About Our Products (Umbrella Use and Care)
During strong winds, please refrain from using the umbrella as there is a risk of damage or injury.
To prevent the umbrella from turning inside out, point the tip of the umbrella (ferrule) into the wind and firmly grip the central shaft and handle with both hands.
Due to the umbrella's structure, umbrellas with more ribs and smaller sizes tend to be more resistant to turning inside out.
Some umbrellas use highly elastic materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, or polycarbonate for their ribs, which helps to minimize damage to the umbrella by allowing it to turn inside out.
Umbrellas are made up of various parts.
How you hold and open/close an umbrella can make a big difference in its longevity.
Umbrellas are weak against force applied from below. If wind hits the umbrella from the handle side, the ribs can bend backward and break.
The key is to avoid fighting against the wind.
Please refrain from using the umbrella in strong winds, as there is a risk of damage or injury.
When opening and closing the umbrella, do not force it open. Instead, gently shake it up and down or side to side a few times to loosen the fabric before opening or closing it.
Forcibly opening the umbrella while the ribs and fabric are entangled puts stress on it, which can cause the fabric to tear or the ribs to break, regardless of how many times it has been used.
Do not leave dirt on the fabric.
Impurities from rain and dust in the air adhere to the surface of the fabric. Open the umbrella and rinse the surface with water using a shower or similar to wash away the dirt.
If the dirt is severe, dilute a neutral detergent in lukewarm water, soak a sponge in it, and gently rub the dirty areas to remove the dirt.
Afterward, avoid direct sunlight and dry the umbrella in the shade in a well-ventilated area.
Many water-repellent coatings have the property of being restored by heat.
By applying warm air from a hairdryer evenly to the entire umbrella fabric, the water-repellent particles on the surface may realign, allowing the fabric to repel water again.
With the umbrella completely dry, hold the hairdryer at least 10 centimeters away and warm the entire surface of the fabric.
Please be careful not to concentrate the warm air on one spot, as this may damage the fabric.
Do not attempt to restore vinyl umbrellas with warm air, as they may deform or break when exposed to heat.
Umbrellas that have been used for a long time may have lost their water-repellent coating.
This is applied to prevent damage.
Damage occurs when the main ribs and secondary ribs hit the central pole every time the umbrella is opened or closed.
We recommend using the umbrella with this still attached.
In the unlikely event that it starts to peel off or if the adhesive part bothers you, you can replace it yourself.
Please use commercially available clear cellophane tape. Please note that if the tape is too thick or wound too many times, it may catch when opening and closing the umbrella.
*Some products may not have tape applied to the central pole.
The odor is from the materials used.
This odor is caused by the structure of the product's materials and does not indicate a defective product.
In particular, vinyl umbrellas and umbrellas with coated undersides may have a strong odor when first opened or when you start using them.
Please be assured that the odor will gradually fade with use. If you are concerned, you can air the umbrella out in a well-ventilated, shady area with the umbrella open to help dissipate the odor.
Due to the physical pressure of folding and storing, it is difficult to completely avoid wrinkles.
Although not recommended as it may damage the umbrella, briefly applying steam from a steam iron to the surface of the umbrella can reduce wrinkles to some extent.
However, please understand that if steam is concentrated on the back (inner part) or a specific area of the umbrella, the texture of the fabric may change. Therefore, please try this at your own risk.
Also, please avoid using this method on vinyl umbrellas, as they are susceptible to heat and may deform or break.
Because natural bamboo is used, heating during the shaping process may cause lines that resemble cracks to appear.
This does not affect its usability. If it gets wet, gently wipe it with a dry cloth and air-dry it in a well-ventilated, shaded area until thoroughly dry, as leaving it wet can cause deformation, discoloration, or mold growth.
Please store it away from direct sunlight and high temperatures or humidity, as heat may cause the bamboo handle to stretch.
Also, please refrain from storing it by hanging the tip of the handle.
The shaft (center rod) may not have been pushed in completely when closing the umbrella.
Please push the top and handle of the umbrella from both sides with both hands until you hear a click. Hearing a click will lock the umbrella, allowing it to be opened and closed.
The part you push up when opening an umbrella (the runner) has a safeguard cover.
This is to prevent injury to your fingers or nails. When opening, pull this cover straight up without pressing it, and without twisting it left or right, spread the umbrella until you hear a click.
The cover only functions when closing the umbrella, so if you open it while pressing the cover, it will close without stopping.
Products with polyurethane coating are highly waterproof, but this also means that internal moisture can easily get trapped, leading to condensation and wetting the inside.
If the inside gets wet, it can cause rust, so please air dry it thoroughly in a well-ventilated, shady area.
Umbrellas are made by sewing fabric panels together. Although the umbrella fabric is treated for waterproofing and water repellency, and water-repellent thread is used for sewing, rain may seep through during heavy or prolonged use.
Additionally, decorative elements (embroidery, stitching, piping, tape, etc.) may not be completely waterproof or water-repellent due to their design, and rain may easily seep through these areas. Please be aware that there is a risk of water leakage if the umbrella is used in rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour.
By taking a few precautions, you can reduce the stress on your umbrella.
[When opening and closing the umbrella]
Before opening or closing, gently shake the umbrella up and down or left and right a few times to loosen the fabric.
Forcibly opening the umbrella while the ribs and fabric are entangled can put a strain on it, leading to fabric tears or broken ribs, regardless of the number of times it has been used.
While it may not break immediately, the accumulation of unseen damage can eventually cause the ribs to break.
This is especially true for larger umbrellas, so please be careful.
[When carrying the umbrella]
Poking the ground with the umbrella or using it like a cane to bear your weight can cause the handle or central pole to bend or break.
If you put a folding umbrella in your bag without using an umbrella sleeve, it may tear if it comes into contact with other items, or the ribs may get caught, damaging your bag or umbrella.
Using an umbrella sleeve also helps protect the umbrella itself.
[When using hand cream, sunscreen, or disinfectant]
If these substances get on your umbrella, they can cause stains or discoloration on the fabric or handle.
[During use]
Do not swing or throw the umbrella.
Always hold the umbrella in your hand.
Do not continue to use the umbrella if the handle or tip of a rib is broken.
Parents should caution children.
[When wet with rain]
Wipe with a dry cloth and air dry thoroughly in the shade.
When shaking off water, gently open and close the umbrella repeatedly while pointing it downwards.
Strongly rotating, shaking, or hitting the umbrella against the ground can cause it to break.
Leaving it wet can cause stains, mold, rust, and odors, and can also lead to a decrease in the fabric's waterproofing and water-repellency, and deterioration of the ribs.
[During strong winds]
There is a risk of damage or injury, so please refrain from using the umbrella on windy days.
[When storing]
Always ensure it is dry and store it in a well-ventilated place, away from high temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight.
Please refrain from storing it in places that become hot and humid, such as inside a car during summer.
